2600th Sambuddha Jayanthi and Annual Pirith Chanting
2600th Sambudda Jayanthiya (completion of 2600 years upon attainment of Buddhahood by prince Siddhartha) and annual pirith chanting ceremony of the temple was held at grand level, under the patronage of most venerable Keppetiyagoda Gunawansa Nayaka Thero, chief Sangha Nayaka in the United Kingdom for Srilanka Ramanna Nikaya and Most venerable Mapalagama Soratha thero, The Deputy monk of Jethavana Buddhist Vihara in Birmingham. This Sambuddhathwa jayanthiya and Pirith Chanting was attended by around 300 Buddhist devotees and many Distinguished Buddhist monks. Amongst the Buddhist monks who attended function were Most Venerable Galayaye Piyadassi Nayaka Thero, The head monk of Srisaddatissa International Buddhist centre in Kingsbury and Sangha nayaka for Great Britain, Most Venerable Dr. Nagoda Amarawansa Nayaka Thero, the chief incumbent of Srilanka Vidyalaya Maradana, Srilanka and the working committee member for Srilanka Ramanna Nikaya. Most Venerable Akuratiye Nanda Nayaka Thero, Chief sangha nayaka for Western Province in Srilanka and co-Author for Sinhala encyclopedia. Deputy incumbent of Leicester Buddhist Vihara Pandith Teldeniye Amitha Thero. Most venerable Bambarakotuwe Ananda Mangala Thro. Chief incumbent of Kachchuwaththa purana Viharaya in Galle Srilanka, Most venerable Uluvitige Bodhiseeha Thero. Most venerable Wanduramba Kassapa Thero, Most Venerable Nepale Sumana Thero, Most Venerable Galpoththayaye Pemananda Thero, and Kirimetiyawe Dhammika Thero from Manchester Kethumathi Buddhist Centre. Most venerable Konwewe Ariyarathana Thero, the Residence monk of London Buddhist Vihara.
Dr. Sumanaseeha and Dr Thamara sponsored this event in order to bestow merits for those who sacrificed their lives at war in Srilanka and to invoke blessing of triple gems for peace among all communities in Srilanka. Mr Prathipha Silva whose son of sponsoring duo, falls on this particular day, therefore, they expect to seek the blessings triple gems on their son’s Birth Day. Dayaka Sabha of the temple is grateful to Mr. Santha Perera, Mr. Palitha Bandara, Mrs.Priyanka Hikkaduwa and Mrs. Anuruddika Hikaduwa for their time, energy and money in bringing this Sambuddha Jayanthi event and all night Pirith Chanting ceremony to its climax.

Venerable Keppetiyagoda Gunawansa Thero was felicitated by Buddhist Communities in Hounslow
Most Venerable Keppetiyagoda Gunawansa Thero, the head monk of Jethavana Buddhist vihara in Birmingham was honored by SriLankan Buddhist Community living in Hounslow. The felicitation ceremony in an honour of Keppetiyagoda Gunawansa thero was held on 5th of June 2011 at Feltham Assembly Hall in Hounslow with an audience of 500 invited guests.
This was serene and peaceful occasion which included valuable speeches from the guests who graced the occasion. He was felicitated upon his appointment as a great Sangha Nayaka for the UK to represent Srilanka Ramanna Nikaya and the honourably title of “The Light of international Dhamma Mission” conferred to him by SriLanka Ramanna Nikaya as a recognition of his dedicated service on international Buddhist mission. Amongst the special guests who attended the ceremony were Most Venerable Dr. Nagoda Amarawansa Nayaka Thero, the head monk of Srilanka Vidyalaya in Colombo and Working Committee member of Ramanna Nikaya. Vesak Celebration and 2600 years Anniversary of the Enlightenment of the Buddha
On 22nd of May 2011, the historic day of Buddhist calendar, many devotees have celebrated the Birth, Enlightenment and Death of our Sakyamuni Gautama Buddha. This year it has been the 2600 years anniversary of the Enlightenment of the Buddha. (Sambuddhthwa Jayanthi)
Many Buddhist monks and devoted guests have grace the occasion in the Jethawana Buddhist temple, Dhana, Seela, Bawana were observe during this mass celebration . Napoli’s Sumana Thero, Mrs Shiranee Joseph De Saram (Vice President APSL) of and Mr Keith Munnings (Chairman of the Buddhist Healthcare Chaplaincy) have graced the occasion by delivering precious & timely speeches to the children’s & adults who were observed Sil on the day.
